What about under floor heating?

Engineered wood flooring works well with under floor heating, when particular attention is paid to ensuring that the maximum temperature of the sub floor/heating element/water pipes never exceeds 27˚C. Any increase in the temperature above this level will damage the wood flooring and render all warranties and guarantees void.

Wet systems in new screed and retro fit wet systems should be operational prior to installation of your new engineered wood flooring. Room thermostats must be installed with floor temperature probes, to prevent the maximum temperature of the sub floor/water pipes exceeding 27˚C.

After testing, wet systems need to be switched off to cool down at least 24 hours prior to installation of your new floor. Once your floor has been installed your underfloor heating can be turned on again very low and increased slowly over a period of days to reach your preferred temperature, but not exceeding 27˚C maximum temperature of the sub floor/water pipes.

Electric systems will need to be specific to engineered wood flooring or LVT/laminate flooring. Room thermostats must be installed with floor temperature probes to prevent the maximum temperature of the heating element exceeding 27˚C. These will need to be covered with a screed or latex levelling compound by the installer of the electric heating system, prior to installation of your new engineered wood flooring.

Should you wish your floor to be installed prior to your underfloor heating being fully tested as operational, Antares Wood Floors Ltd takes no responsibility for any deformation, delamination or shrinkage of your new engineered wood floor or failure of its installation.

Placement of rugs on engineered wood flooring fitted over underfloor heating systems can trap heat in the floor which might result in damage to the engineered wood floor and is not advisable.

Please refer to the guidance provided by the manufacturer of your chosen underfloor heating system regarding the installation of engineered wood flooring or LVT/laminate floors.
